Flows in the Farmington River Watershed
Without adequate flows, the Farmington River would cease to exist as a
cultural, natural, recreational, and aesthetic resource for fish,
wildlife, and/or people. Understanding the River’s flows provides
essential answers to key questions such as: "Is it safe to go fishing?" or
"is it a good day for whitewater kayaking?" or "is there likely to be
flooding in my area?" As you can see by linking to the different USGS flow
stations (called gaging stations) below, flows vary based on location in
the watershed, size of stream, local rainfall or snowmelt, and many other
factors.
New! Check out the river gauge readings in Tariffville, Simsbury and Unionville on the NOAA Site.
